Perfectionism and Procrastination Pollute Peoples Potential

The 5 P’s as I see them are “Perfectionism and Procrastination Pollute Peoples’ Potential”, rather than the more common “Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance”.

Do It NowI learned the 5 P’s when I was a soldier.
In the business of preparing for entering into battle, planning and preparation are one of the keys to victory and minimal loss of life.

Adhering to the common 5 P’s is a good advice when you are setting your goals for your online business or any goal. Planning is necessary in order to reach a goal.

A Plan Is Essential

“Life is too short to waste. Dreams are fulfilled only through action, not through endless planning to take action.” - David J. Schwartz

The creation and running your online business requires you to create a plan.
All business must clearly establish its direction towards its goal.

Because they want to create the perfect website plan or blog, many people get caught up in Analysis Paralysis, too much planning and research, before starting their online business.
Trying to create the perfect plan is a waste of your second most valuable resource; time.

One of the givens about creating a blog or an online business is, you will have to make adjustments and change things. Make ongoing improvements to your online business will be continuous project.

“You don’t become enormously successful without encountering and overcoming a number of extremely challenging problems.” —Mark Victor Hansen

Perfection is a noble idea, yet impractical for most endeavors because you are going to fail at some things. You are going to make mistakes.

Perfectionism leads to procrastination and both stem from fear.

The perfectionist’s procrastination is based in the fear of failure, the fear of success, the fear of ridicule from friends and loved ones, the fear of change, etc.

These fears are nonsense to indulge because mistakes are how we learn. We learn many valuable lessons from mistakes and failures. We even come up with wonderful ideas on how to do things differently and more efficiently from our failures.

I was a perfectionist. I have learned that striving for perfection is mostly a means of justifying procrastination.

There is no reason to be fearful of mistakes or failure if you are determined to succeed.

Babies have little fear, thank goodness, if they did they would never grow out of crawling.

A baby falls countless times in their learning to walk; yet they continue to try to walk. They get control of their balance and their muscles little by little, and then one day they are walking. Soon after that they are running and we are running after them so they don’t run into traffic or over the edge of the stairs.

Mistakes and failure enroute to your goals of making money online are inevitable. Mistakes and failures are a good thing because they provide information on how “not” to do things. We learn what doesn’t work and can make adjustments that move us in the right direction.

Take Action – Do It Now

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.” ~Goethe

All great success comes by someone taking action in spite of fear. Through the mistakes and failures we find there was actually nothing to fear.

When you adjust your direction because of a failure, the creative in you is sparked to find a way to overcome the obstacle. Once you do overcome it you will find yourself more confident and more wiling and able to move forward fearlessly.

So … Do It NOW. Take action toward your goals NOW.

Opportunity may be just on the other side of your next failure. Your big idea and your greatest success could be on the other side of your next mistake.

The world is full of people with enormous potential that is unrealized because they procrastinate and ultimately never get started on their goals.

These folks are always talking about their vision, or some wonderful project that is in the planning stage, but they never actually begin the project. They always need some more information, some more money, some more time, some help, etc.

Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action. ~ Napoleon Hill

If you have an idea or a vision, for an online business or blog, begin work it at once. Make a rough plan and dive right into working on its accomplishment.

Time continues to march forward regardless of what you do, or do not do. It is a limited resource. So don’t waste it trying to not make mistakes.

Set your goal. Due your basic research and begin working on its attainment NOW.
Don’t waste the time you have striving for perfection.

Perfectionism is only a mask for procrastination and together they pollute your potential to be successful.

Go For Your Dreams!
